We are a community
shibari
Shibari is a deeply multifaceted art form.
It can be an intimate and connective experience, a meditative practice, an aesthetic expression, a performance, and even a acrobatic discipline. Much like dance, it requires dynamics, technical skill, coordination, and engagement on both a somatic and psychological level.
Our events
For the past year, we have fostered an inclusive and welcoming community while hosting our events at Umbrella Cardiff.
Our gatherings bring together people from all walks of life. We are proud to be a space where people of all sexual orientations and gender identities — straight, gay, bi, trans, cis—can feel safe, supported, and empowered in their exploration of shibari.
The atmosphere at our events is one of encouragement, warmth, and peer learning. Many of our attendees are new to the practice, and we strive to give them the confidence and foundational skills they need to begin their journey. We actively promote knowledge-sharing and collaborative learning, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to grow and refine their practice in a safe and respectful environment.

community
To maintain the quality of our sessions, we cap attendance at 20 participants.
This intimate setting allows for a focused and engaged experience, and as a result, our events frequently sell out, with people signing up for a waiting list.
The funds we raise through ticket sales are reinvested into the community. These contributions go towards purchasing equipment and subsidising tickets when we invite guest workshop leaders, ensuring that we can continue to offer high-quality learning experiences to our attendees.
Our goal is to continue growing this vibrant and supportive community, making shibari more accessible and understood while providing a respectful and enriching space for everyone involved.
